선생님, 안녕하십니까?

2026년 서울대학교 과학철학 분야 해외저명학자 초청강연을 아래와 같이 개최합니다. 올해 연사는 컬럼비아대학 철학과에 재직하고 있는 저명한 물리철학자인 데이비드 알버트(David Albert) 교수입니다. 알버트 교수는 <Quantum Mechanics and Experience>, <Time and Chance> 등을 포함해 양자역학과 통계역학에 관한 철학적 논의로 세계적인 명성을 얻고 있는 철학자입니다. 이번 강연에서 알버트 교수는 시간의 방향과 행위성의 관계에 관한 현대의 논의들을 소개하고 비판적으로 검토할 것입니다. 많은 관심과 참여 바랍니다.

- 제목: Time and Agency
- 요약: We make our way around in the world with a very deep conviction to the effect that the future is open in a way that the past is not - or that, by acting now, we can affect or shape or control the future in a way that we cannot affect or shape or control the past - or that causes are in the pasts of their effects.  And this talk will be a sort of progress report on various contemporary attempts at understanding exactly what it is that this conviction amounts to – and why we have it.  I will begin with a critique of various metaphysical and phenomenological and perspectival approaches to this question, and go on argue that it can be understood as a mechanical phenomenon of nature.
